The band was splitting... and everything was unnofial. After Sammy Hagar's MTV talk with Kurt Loder where he stated he had enough touring.

The following wednesday, Alex Van Halen, during a phone-in talk with San Diego radio station Q106, had something to say about the situation.

Alex Van Halen: We're doing one song together [with David Lee Roth]. That's all I know, and that's as far as it goes.

Q106: One song on a new album?
AVH: Correct

Q106: We got news here that there may be a reunion tour...
AVH: No, nothing's... we're not going any further than today. We're doing one song.

Q106: Is Sammy still with you guys?
AVH: Sammy's, I'd say, on hiatus, as far as we know. He's in Hawaii.
