Edward Van Halen was personally invited to perform a solo of this song (Steve Lukather plays the main riff); word is that Edward didn't believe it was Quincy on the phone and that Edward never met Michael Jackson on the studio, because Michael was recording backing vocals elsewhere; another unconfirmed story is that the door knocking one can hear on the record refers to a techician who was about to enter the studio, knocked, opened the door... and, of course, left the next second.
It is said that Edward didn't feel like participating on the video of the song because he felt it wouldn't be a hit.
