Edward Van Halen's guitars
GIBSON PROTOTYPE

This guitar is absolutely unique as it's the guitar that Gibson alledgedly sent to Edward after he parted ways with Kramer.

Gibson manufactured the guitar much like Edward use to do, in a very simple way; it only has a volume knob, two switches (for pickup selection and coil tap) and has no particular design or finish; that would have been decided if Edward had joined the team

The guitar specs are:
  • Body wood: Solid alder;
  • Neck: maple;
  • Fingerboard: rosewood;
  • Frets: 22 frets;
  • Nut: locking;
  • Tuners: Grover;
  • Fret marks: pearloid dot inlays;
  • Tremolo Unit: locking, top mount (Kahler type);
  • Neck Pickup: Gibson Soapbar (P-90 ?);
  • Bridge Pickup: Gibson (custom wound);
  • Serial: 81685642.
