Edward Van Halen's guitars
PEAVEY WOLFGANG STANDARD DELUXE AMBER QUILT

The original year quilts are slightly different from the later production models in their feel. They seem overall heavier and the necks are generally nicer (not always). The materials they got that first year were different, and possibly better in some cases.

This difference also creates value because for someone who likes that specific feel, only an original year will do. The fact that Ed kept playing his original year Sunburst quilt for seven years says something about that too.

The guitar specs are:
  • Measures: 12-5/8" wide, 1-3/4" thick, 36-1/4" long;
  • Model: Wolfgang Standard (with tremolo);
  • Body wood: basswood;
  • Body and sides color: black;
  • Top wood: quilted bookmatched maple;
  • Top color: amber finish;
  • Neck: figured birdseye maple;
  • Fretboard: (matching) birdseye maple;
  • Fretboard inlays: black dots;
  • Binding: white;
  • Hardware: chrome;
  • Headstock: black;
  • Tuners: Schaller, 3+3 offset;
  • Lettering: gold;
