PAUL GILBERT WRITES SONG FOR EDWARD

Just released is the new elctrifying album by guitar hero Paul Gilbert. The guy who became famous for his work with Racer X, Mr. Big and (more recently) in the G3 Tour, just released a breathtaking instrumental album called "Get Out of my yard".

It is known that Paul has creditted Edward Van Halen as an influence, but he took it a little step forward by writting a special tribute to Eddie Van Halen, in forms of a song. Paul Gilbert in 2006... In the CD leaflet, there is a clear reference to this in the comments of a music named "Three E's For Edward":

"My biggest guitar hero is named Edward. I have seen visions of freedom, virtuosity, and unspeakable joy that remain unmatched. I hope he can find his way to a place free of all pollution and once again show us the beauty of his music and soul. With this hope in mind, I put three strings on my acoustic guitar, tuned them all to E (in octaves), and play these notes for him".

This is how Paul refers to the album:

"There is more concentrated guitar power on this CD than any I have done.

More screaming solos, more thunderous riffs, more wall-shaking chords, more imagination, more passion, more, more, more!

GET OUT OF MY YARD was recorded in Los Angeles. I played electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass. Jeff Bowders played drums. Mike Szuter played bass on tracks 8, 10, and 11. My wife Emi played piano on track 6 and Hammond organ on track 8. Tom Size engineered and mixed.

The first 38 seconds of GET OUT OF MY YARD are impossible to play. But I played them. And you can listen
".

From his website, one can also read:

"Paul became interested in music under the influence of his parents at the age of five. On his 5th birthday, his parents gave the toy guitar and toy amp to him. He started to play the guitar in 1971. At the age of 9, he became listening to music; hard rock/heavy metal like Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Aerosmith and Heart. When he was 11, Eddie Van Halen guitar play gave him a great shock".

From there, we pretty much know what happened with this 1966 Illinois born guitarist...

Regarding this release, there is also a matching DVD available in stores everywhere.
Electrifying, we bet !!!
