VAN HALEN INDUCTED INTO HALL OF FAME

Van Halen, R.E.M., the Stooges and Patti Smith were among the nine acts on the ballot for the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, held at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Velvet Revolver played a medley of two Van Halen songs (intro from "Best Of Both Worlds" to "Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love") and Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony were present to receive the award. After that, Sammy and Michael joined Paul Shaffer and performed "Why Can't This Be Love" from Hagar's first album with Van Halen.

Also on the ballot are the Dave Clark Five, Chic, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Joe Tex and the Ronettes.

Regarding the 2007 inductees for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they were the following (with # indicating where they were on this poll at the time of their induction announcement): Van Halen (1), R.E.M. (13), Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five (86), The Ronettes (89), Patti Smith (79).
