MY FRANKENSTEIN HAS ARRIVED

The day I learned Edward and Fender were about to make history with the "exact-to-the-last-detail Frankenstein" guitar, I knew I had to dive into it as well. For me, this isn't just another replica, like the Charvel EVH Series or the Kramer 1984... this is the real thing. The three sisters... Frankenstein, Ernie Ball Music Man & Peavey Wolfgang I immediately contacted Fender USA and asked how it was possible to get my hands on a thing like this. Being from outside the US in Europe, chances were small. The answer took some days...

As you know, the minute the guitar was made available (a limited series of 300), Fender couldn't believe that it would take just a few hours before all of the guitars would be sold. Fortunately, they had their international clients in mind and a couple dozen guitars were reserved for worldwide fans.

I got an email reply from a high representative of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation later in the week, inviting me to contact Fender Portugal. I got to know John, whom I have to say is the nicest bloke there is, an avid luthier also and an EVH sound fan as well.

After that, it was all downhill. I got to learn that only 18 instruments have crossed the ocean to Europe and only 2 to Iberia (Portugal and Spain). I kept on receiving feedback from the Fender representative and it's likely that, after this and getting to know John a little better, we might be working on some guitar projects soon. It is also likely that we travel to the USA to watch the "mighty" Van Halen play when the reunion tour is confirmed.

Where was I ?!...
Aaahhh... the guitar !!!

The guitar totally smokes; it's a schredding machine and it (inexplicably) beats the Wolfgang and the Music Man. My favorite EVH guitar is still the rosewood neck model I own (for my style of playing), but this Frankenstein blows my mind (and ears) away. I just plugged it into a regular Marshall system (Marhsall 9001 - Marhsall 9100 - Marshall JCM900 1960A) and it's crazy. I feel the urge to play tapping, scales, harmonics, whatever... everything seems to be technically so achievable !!!

So, here go some pictures before I started playing (I don't want to have people seing me drooling...):

The cardbox is simply huge...

But the guitar case seems even bigger !...

The jewel is revealed.

Pluggin' in...
