As far as stacks are concerned, the Peavey 5150 cabinet is a great buy. They compliment a metal guitar tone perfectly with their excellent high range as well as their low frequency range.

The speakers allow searing treble, but not a lot of screaming. And the bass is great for palm muting, lots of great sound but not a lot of thump.
These are not high contrast speakers, but they do have a great tone. The tone comes from being loaded with four Sheffield 1200 12-inch speakers. These speakers are voiced to Eddie Van Halen's specifications, as the whole 5150 setup is his signature series.
The cabinets handle 300 watts RMS and are 16 ohms. They come slant front or straight front, traditionally stacked with the slant on top. The sound is identical in either, and they can be separated and maintain perfect sound. The cabinets have recessed handles and rollers/casters, which is a necessity for this cabinet, as it is very heavy.
The straight cab weighs in at 96 pounds, the slant cab is 90 pounds. The amp specs are:
